The purpose of my Psychotherapy practice is to provide my patients with a safe, private, confidential, and effective environment for personal growth and healing.
PRIVATE PAY POLICY :
Standard fees are for clients with no available payment plan or insurance.
These fees may change at any time and may be different for you depending on your individual circumstances. REMEMBER CASH OUT OF POCKET- (NON INSURANCE) PAYMENTS ARE ALWAYS REDUCED FOR THE PATIENT
We can accept payments by cash, money order, personal check or credit card. If you have any questions about our payment policies please e-mail us at guru@psychguru.org.
95% percent of my practice is conducted on a private pay basis.
The three most common reasons patients pay out of pocket rather than go through insurance providers are:
- Confidentiality
- Control
- Flexibility
CONFIDENTIALITY : Most insurance companies require mental health providers to disclose personal information, including diagnosis and, in many cases, may even direct the course of treatment. Revealing such information may affect your future insurance coverage and your peace of mind.
Private pay clients, can be assured that their medical records are completely confidential unless prior written consent is given.
CONTROL : Many insurance companies approve only a limited number of therapy sessions, have low schedules of fee reimbursement, and have a limited roster of pre-approved therapists to choose from.
FLEXABILITY : Pre-approved therapists may not be conveniently located.
I offer a free 30-minute telephone or brief e-mail consultation to discuss your questions or concerns, and to determine if we are a good therapeutic match.
My rates are competitive, and I discuss them during the initial telephone or e-mail consultation. I use a sliding scale fee structure for students, activists, artists, and budget-challenged clients. Evening and weekend appointments are in highest demand and, as such, I do not offer sliding scale rates for most of those.
Fees are payable at the beginning of each session by cash, credit card , check, or money order.
If a patient wishes to use insurance benefits to pay for therapy, there are two options:
1. OUT OF NETWORK PROVIDER - IF I bill insurance companies monthly as an “out of network provider.” Therapy fees are still payable at the beginning of each session. I complete insurance forms monthly, and the insurance companies send reimbursement directly to the insured individual.
2. IN NETWORK INSURANCE PROVIDER - Requires a co-pay and in many cases offers a limited number of visits, and may require disclosure of diagnosis and course of treatment to the insurance company for review.
Feel free to contact guru@psychguru.org if you have questions that have not been answered regarding fees and insurance.
